Choose the Right Tire For Your Car - Protect It in the Heat

May 18, 2017

Selecting the right tire for your car may not be as easy as it sounds and there are a number of factors to consider before making that choice. There are seasonal, size, price and performance considerations. Not all tires suit all weather conditions, though all-season tires are designed to work relatively efficiently in cold, moderate or hot climates, but some performance is sacrificed to achieve this goal.

In Egypt it is the heat in particular that impacts tire performance and requires closer monitoring. Older tires are more likely to fail due to heat for example, so car owners and drivers need to be aware of the condition and age of their tires.

Other factors such as under inflation and the ever-present potholes can also contribute to tire failures and blowouts in extremely hot weather conditions and should be avoided if possible. Tire pressure can fluctuate significantly in the heat and since manufacturers base their tire pressure recommendations on cold inflation pressure you must be check readings in the morning, before driving. These recommended readings are usually listed on driver side door, the glove compartment door, or in the user manual.
