Total Egypt Observes World Safety Day

April 30, 2017

On the occasion of the World Safety Day and Health at Work celebrated on April 28, Total Egypt organized internal company sessions for employees to promote Total's 12 Golden rules of safety at work. Total also leveraged the digital media to promote road safety tips and recommendations to support its customers, including information on fuel efficiency to ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an annual international campaign to promote safe, healthy and decent work. It is held on 28 April and has been observed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) since 2003. The ILO’s campaign for the 2017 World Day for Safety and Health at Work focuses on the critical need for countries to improve their capacity to collect and utilize reliable occupational safety and health (OSH) data.

Every day, 6,300 people die as a result of occupational accidents or work-related diseases – more than 2.3 million deaths per year. 317 million accidents occur on the job annually; many of these resulting in extended absences from work.

A national occupational safety and health culture is one in which the right to a safe and healthy working environment is respected at all levels, where governments, employers and workers actively participate in securing a safe and healthy working environment through a system of defined rights, responsibilities and duties, and where the highest priority is accorded to the principle of prevention.

Total adheres to strict safety standards as part of its Health Safety, Environment, and Quality management system which applies to all work processes, including road transportation.
