Cairo, March 8, 2017: Momar Nguer, Total's President of Marketing and Services and Member of the Executive Committee and Stanislas Mittelman, Total Marketing and Services Senior Vice President Africa, met with Mr Tarek El Molla, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to discuss Total's expanding Upstream and Downstream operations and investments in Egypt.

The meeting came on the occasion of the Egyptian Petroleum Show (EGYPS) 2017, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fatah El Sisi, between February 14th and 16th, where Total Egypt was one of the main exhibitors, and Nguer took part as a strategic speaker.

M. NGuer confirmed that the recent floating of the Egyptian pound shall not change Total Group’s intent to invest in Egypt. Drilling operations of a first exploration well shall start on North El Mahala Onshore bloc 2 over the coming weeks and the expansion of Total service stations network shall continue as scheduled with 10 to 12 new stations opening per year over the 5 coming years.

"I am honored to have met with Mr Tarek El Molla and to discuss with him Total's plans supporting Egypt's bright energy future," said Nguer. "Egypt is a strategic market for Total and we are committed to the growth and sustainability of the energy sector in Egypt and Africa. I was also happy to represent Total at EGYPS alongside key industry experts. This landmark event gave us insights into Egypt's short and long term plans, strategic priorities and a wider overview of the development of North Africa’s oil and gas sector."

"We are honored to meet with Mr Tarek El Molla," said M. Mittelman. "We have been growing and making considerable investments in recent years in our service stations, lubricants and aviation businesses. EGYPS 2017 is a milestone in shaping and strengthening Egypt and Africa’s energy industry, and as a key player in this sector, our participation is critical."

During the conference, M. Momar Nguer discussed the sustainability of North African downstream development, refining petrochemicals and marketing and distribution of refined products, and Egypt's refineries' readiness for international fuel product specifications and standards based on international best practice.

EGYPS 2017 brought together government representatives,  key oil and energy experts, international service providers, consultants and financiers to address evolving opportunities in the Egyptian and North African energy arena and to offer stakeholders access to contractors, suppliers, decision makers, government leaders and key industry players to expand their networks.

The show also featured eight pavilions from Scotland, the UK, France, Italy, Bahrain, South Korea, China and the UAE who showcased their nations’ industry developments.
