Summer Car Tips
20,June, 2017
The summer season can have a significant impact on your car, so we would like to share a few tips with you on how to protect your vehicle and minimize the damage a warmer climate can cause.
Hot weather is more demanding on your car oil and oil filter, so a change of both as the summer season approaches is advisable. Clean oil keeps your car running smoothly while a clean filter helps keep more of the potential debris you encounter out of it.
It is also vital that you keep track of your car’s various fluid levels, be they transmission fluid, coolant fluid, power steering fluid, or windshield wiper fluid. Overheating is the most frequent car breakdown trigger in summer so coolant fluid is your top priority.
As we noted in a previous article, tire pressure must also be carefully monitored during the summer months, but your battery also requires your careful attention in the heat, which can speed up battery fluid loss and lead to a car breakdown when you least expect it.
As you can imagine, your car’s braking system is also vulnerable to the heat and to overuse damage, so a thorough inspection as the summer begins can be a life-saving trip.
